WHAT ARE BOTOX® AND NEUROMODULATORS?
Botox® and neuromodulators are products that work to relax the muscles of the face that cause dynamic wrinkles. These types of wrinkles are unique in that they stem from the repeated pinching of the skin when you use facial expressions. Other wrinkles and lines, such as those found in the lower face, tend to be related to sagging. Treatment with neuromodulators, such as Botox® and Dysport®, relax the muscles for approximately four to six months. This allows the skin time to smooth out and wrinkles are less noticeable. To get an idea of how these products work, take a look at our neuromodulator and Botox® before and after photos.
HOW MUCH DO NEUROMODULATORS LIKE BOTOX® AND DYSPORT® COST?
At OptimalSelf MD, we understand that you want to feel good about yourself, yet cost may be a primary consideration. We recommend that you schedule a consultation as a first step. We charge a fee for an in-office consultation. As part of the consultation, we explain your Botox® cost and neuromodulator injections cost, and payment can be made by cash, check, and credit card. We also work with CareCredit® and Alphaeon® to offer our patients financing options.

WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR BOTOX® AND NEUROMODULATORS?
Botox® and other neuromodulators are good for most patients, unless you have a history of an adverse reaction to these types of treatments. The injections help with lines across your forehead, crow’s feet, and frown lines. Dr. Shawn also uses Botox® for hyperhidrosis, a medical condition that describes excessive sweating.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING TREATMENT WITH BOTOX® AND NEUROMODULATORS?
Botox®, Dysport®, and other neuromodulators are administered into the facial muscles via a thin needle. You may feel a slight prick on your skin when the needle is inserted. Several injections are needed to treat each type of wrinkle.
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE ME TO RECOVER FROM BOTOX® AND NEUROMODULATORS INJECTIONS?
No recovery is needed after neuromodulator injections. You may have a small amount of bleeding from the injection sites, as well as localized tenderness and swelling. You may see results right away, but most neuromodulators need two to five days to take full effect. Dr. Shawn recommends that you have follow-up treatments every four to six months. During these appointments, he will also evaluate your skin to determine if other aesthetic medical treatments are needed or if you are a good candidate for facial surgery.
CAN I SCHEDULE A CONSULTATION FOR BOTOX® AND NEUROMODULATORS INJECTIONS?
Botox® and Dysport® injections do have some similarities, so a consultation with Dr. Shawn is a good idea. We offer 15-minute phone consultations, as well as in-office consultations for a fee. If you are looking for “Dysport® near me” or “Botox® near me,” an in-office consultation is the perfect place to start.
